Interlocking markets
NEMs' core purpose is to bring small, otherwise untradeable, resources from any seller into the economy. But buyers tend to shop for bigger packages. One example might be a weekend away with travel, accommodation, windsurfer hire, a vegetarian meal on the Saturday and two hours of water-ski tuition. NEMs will have diverse sellers providing all those facilities in multiple locations. It can instantly pull them together into a range of weekend packages.
Chains of transactions
It’s not just weekend breaks. Picture a small company who want to travel to a city some distance from base and organise presentations to potential clients. They’re open to do it on any day within the next 2-4 weeks, whenever it will be cheapest. Their list of requirements might be: a meeting room for up to 40 guests for either a morning or afternoon, a projector which may need transport to the meeting room, tea/coffee making equipment, someone to operate a cloakroom and serve refreshments plus a receptionist to hand out marketing details and take names. They can put that list of requirements into NEMs.
As soon as they click Next, a list of packages is presented, all costed.

Each option has been sourced from multiple sellers across different sectors. It has located available meeting rooms, found nearby projectors for hire, sorted transport options to get the projector to the meeting room and located available workers whose travel area encompasses the meeting room in each case. Where it can assemble a package from higher level sellers, the system will underwrite the package.
If any part of the chain were to break (the deliverer not turning up to collect the projector on time, for example) NEMs will use its own funds to re-arrange a new version of the chain. All this would be virtually invisible to the buyer.
Bundling up
Some other personalised packages could include:
- The capacity to manufacture, pack, store then transport a product that requires standard small factory facilities
Dynamically constructed chains around moving resources. For example, a car that is available for hire for 5 days might be offered for a one-way hire, at drop off point it is left with a local holder who gets a cut of the fee, they then issue it to another hirer who wants a one way journey, and so on. The car is priced so that it is cheap, undercutting other options, on journeys that return it closer to its base.- Care packages such as three chiropractic appointments intermingled with sessions for physiotherapy and massage all within a mile of each other next week
- A venue, celebrant, marquee, caterer, photographer, transport and guest accommodation for a wedding.
